Faculty Bio: Benjy Lee Springs
Director of Bands Benjy holds a B.M. degree from UNC-Greensboro and comes to Greensboro College after 20 years as Director of Bands at Eastern Randolph High School, where he garnered superior ratings for marching, jazz and concert bands. He was elected into the American Band Directors Association in 1998 and in 2000 was elected vice-president of the North Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators. Benjy also maintains an active performing career, having toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, performing with such artists as Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Rosemary Clooney, Temptations and Manhattan Transfer among many others. He can also be heard on PBS television's "This is Jazz." |
